I am not a religious person. Besides the cataclysmic lunacy of the old testament I believe that the church has been able to twist the "teachings" and "morals" to contain power, wealth and control. For example the bible is supposedly 2000+ years old, in that time the church became the most influential figure head in modern Europe, using fear of damnation to keep the plebeian and illiterate masses under the thumb. The origins of the bible are sketchy at best, and we all know of Chinese whispers. In the Tudor times the Catholic Church was twisted by Henry the eighth to allow him to get a divorce, and so began the CofE. I thought religion was strict on its teachings so how could he manipulate it to serve him? What's to say that others in power have changed the face of Christianity to serve them?
What I am trying to say is people in power become corrupt eventually, or so it seems. So the true values of the faith may have been lost long ago and replaced with false ones, does anyone else agree?
