And so, there's been an incident in the online community I used to frequent, and I'm sorry if it shouldn't go here, but I need a place to put it and I want to do so anonymously. I will not post nor link the doc which this rant pertains to, however, I shall explain without disclosing names.
There has been a male, claiming to be 23, who has been talking to young, teenage girls, about from 12 - 16 if I had to suffice a guess, and basically chats to these girls and asks one thing, "Are you a virgin?" and then, should you answer, moves in and "pressures" you to reveal /personal/ details, i.e. you. naked. And "fapping" as the term goes. I have read an "example" of how he does so, and yes, it's explicit. He's asked for them naked, asked them to "blow," asked for them in swim suits, asked to meet them, asked to have "sex" when they meet up.
An argument has ensued in the community, and many have said that condemning him is too much, that saying that he should be in jail is too harsh, and that we're simply being blind in our rage. But I pose this -- there are now girls who may be scarred for life, who will change forever, whose lives have been ruined -- hate is bound to come across. Also, someone said to be more compassionate, have some humanity -- where was his when he lured those girls? Where was his humanity in targeting the much more vulnerable and ignorant? Also, the law wasn't made to be for people's benefits, it was made so that we could fairly judge a person in whether or not they had violated another person's rights; even now, we even take circumstances into account. His life would be ruined if he went to jail, yes, probably, but my belief is that if you've done something wrong, correct it -- but just correcting it isn't enough. You need to repent, you need something that reflects, and that's what serving time in jail is. I'm sorry if you don't see eye to eye with my views, but this is just me, feel free to think whatever. I'm just trying to make my point *(however misguided mine may be). *
Personally, I think he should go to jail; his actions are the typical "internet predator," and he's done it more. than. once. Not only does that tell me he borders desperation, but as much as I am tolerant of "forbidden desires" and the such as I am a fan of Japanese anime, he has been exposing young females to this behavior. He IS taking advantage of them when they're in the stage of wanting to know more about the "body," wondering what it's like to be an adult, and, damn it, "hormones." And, many in these communities are prone to being a little self-conscious; if someone waltzes up and persistently says you're beautiful or I like you, you tend to believe it. Benefit of the doubt kind of thing.
And, while it is partially those girls' faults for not stopping it when they should, and not knowing how to say "no," it is his fault too, primarily, for even doing it. The girls, in fact, everything, please learn from this and not be caught in a trap -- lots of people on the internet are goof people, but there's a significant number that aren't. So these kinds of incidents sadden me. Which is why I'm typing all this even though I'm really tired and should be asleep.
It saddens me further that, that community in particular has now had an incident, that someone would go so far to *manipulate* people for their own pleasure -- at the same time I'm not surprised, it's a dark world, it was a matter of time -- **and that pisses me the hell off. **
And so to conclude, while he's the perpetrator, it saddens me that anything like this can and will happen in the future. That's what we humans are, and we can't help that, though I wish we could.
Sorry for that long rant, but it's out of my system and I feel better. Psst, any grammatical/spelling errors existing...argh. Oh well too lazy to go and re-read/edit. Thanks for your time.
