I'm seriously considering quitting school and working full time. I'm only 16. I am so tired of this same game I just don't think i'm cut out for! I know I'm smart and get good marks, but It seems like the biggest waste of time. I don't know if university is worth this emotional torture. If anyone has something to say about this that *isn't* "STAY IN SCHOOL, you'll never get a good job or be happy" then **please,** Tell me.

I used to think that going to college was the only way to get a job and now that I'm a grown person, I have found other wise. I am not done with college and I am already working the job that I am getting my degree for. :/ I would come up with a list of pros and cons and then figure out what would benefit you more.

It's true that school sucks. Most everyone I've spoken to says they miss their high school days, that they wish they could have done more, or done something else. Right now, things might seem bad, or boring, or slow, but it's also going to be the most simple time of your life. You only have to deal with grades and friends. Stay in school and find ways to make it enjoyable. - X (23, m)

High school sucks no doubt about it. I dropped out in the 9th grade. It was a total waste of time in my opinion. But a funny thing happened- I took my GED and started college, and I loved it. I loved the freedom and being an adult. I loved the idea that I could be anything I choose. Course, now i'm my 30's and still trying to figure that out, lol. So its ok. But if you quit, you better take the exam for your GED at least before focusing on employment. The way things are now, you at least need that aa minimum. And don't count out higher education. You might really enjoy it, especiallyif its something vocational where you could learn a trade. Trust me, the world of work seems awesome till you get there and the only thing your e qualified to do is customer service.you don't want to be in that boat.

I wasn't rich, or popular, never had a car, or the best grades. I did drugs, became sexually active at your age, started drinking, fought suicidal depression over and over.... I cant imagine how I got through that time. Now, 8 years after graduation, when most of my peers have their college degree, I have plenty of regrets about not trying to enjoy it more. Looking back, it was just 8 hours a day of putting up with some adults' bullshit, and hanging with my few friends. They really were some of the greatest days. If I could get someone to pay me to do what you're thinking about quitting I wouldn't hesitate. Yes, you can always drop out, get your GED, start pumping out kids with Billy in the trailer down the way and working at the Snake Hole in town but honestly? You have your entire life to do that, or whatever you're thinking of doing. You will be working for another 50 years if you start now, and very likely in shitty thankless jobs, think fast food, retail, labor, factories if you have no higher education. Get yourself a part time job at Sonic or some shit if you want the money, but don't quit school. Guarantee it will be the biggest regret of your life.
